Maryland Out of School Time Network

The Maryland Out of School Time Network (MOST) is comprised of community members and groups campaigning for expanded funding, more effective policies and increased program quality to ensure all young people in Maryland have access to activities in the out-of-school time (OST) hours that enable them to achieve in all stages of their development.

Accomplishments: 
  • MOST worked with hunger advocates to increase utilization of the At-Risk Afterschool Meals program by building awareness of the program and more than doubled its participation rates.
  • More than 100 providers were trained to use the Youth Program Quality Assessment Tool.
  • MOST introduced legislation to create an Afterschool and Summer Learning Activity Fund.
  • MOST completed a map of state and federally funded OST programs.
Current Projects and Initiatives: 
  • MOST continues to leverage OST programs to identify and help enroll eligible participants and families in appropriate benefits programs.
  • Most is organizing a charrette on the inclusion of youth with disabilities in OST programs.
  • MOST will pilot training modules to build awareness for OST providers on the issues of chronic absence and offer strategic ways OST providers can work with schools to increase student attendance.
  • MOST will introduce legislation to re-establish the Maryland Afterschool and Summer Opportunity Fund.
  • MOST is developing an initiative to holistically address health and wellness in OST programs.
  • MOST will facilitate a statewide implementation of self-assessment with the Youth Program Quality Assessment Tool
