About CCSSO
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nationwide nonpartisan, non-profit organization composed of the public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity and five extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO seeks its member’s consensus on major educational issues and expresses their view to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress and the public. CCSSO’s Next Generation Learners strategic initiative area, which includes the Extended Learning Opportunities work, is responsible for enabling states to shape a new learner-centric, personalized system of education so that each individual is prepared for life, work and citizenship.
