Ohio Afterschool Network

The Ohio Afterschool Network (OAN) supports children, youth, families and communities by advocating with a unified voice for sustainable investments in safe, healthy and nurturing afterschool experiences that promote life-long learning.

Current Projects and Initiatives:

  • Hosted Lights on Afterschool event at the Ohio Statehouse, and co-sponsored Statewide Advocacy Day which resulted in more than 300 people speaking with State Senators and Representatives in support of Ohio’s youth.

  • Recommended changes to Ohio’s child care licensing rules to reflect needs of school age children. Many of these recommendations will be adopted.

  • Contracted with Ohio Department of Education to provide a much needed opportunity for professional development and networking, also provides a source of revenue for OAN.

  • Advocating for $5 million in State funding for afterschool programs; contracted with Voices for Ohio’s Children to lead this work.

  • Digital badges pilot with Case Western reserve.
