Vermont Afterschool, Inc.

The Vermont Afterschool Inc. is a public-private statewide partnership dedicated to supporting and sustaining innovative learning opportunities that extend beyond the school day for all Vermont’s children and youth. Our activities are directed toward increasing the quality and availability of education programs during non-school hours.

Current Projects and Initiatives:
  • Vermont Afterschool developed and published an interactive mapping database with program level information. This information resource is used throughout the year to inform state policy, decision-making, and strategic planning.

  • Vermont Afterschool launched Youth Work VT. A collective, action-oriented group working in partnership to achieve positive outcomes for all youth, ages 9-26, so they can reach their full potential. The goal is to build a more holistic approach to youth development; with an even stronger focus on youth voice and youth rights.

  • Vermont Afterschool’s STEM Initiative aims to support, inspire, and increase high-quality STEM (the subjects called science, technology, engineering, and math) programs for Vermont’s afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs.

  • Zap the Gap with Afterschool & Summer Learning is Vermont Afterschool’s statewide advocacy campaign to increase support for public funding of afterschool and summer learning programs in Vermont. These programs help working families, support Vermont’s major education initiatives, keep our kids safe, and help them succeed.
